having a bit of trouble 'downstairs'. this came on yesterday, I noticed weeing was a bit uncomfortable. Today its very painful stinging. Theres no visible signs, the old boy looks normal on the outside.

Its not a STD as I havent been up to that kind of behaviour. not sure if its a water infection - I feel alright in myself. Could it be cystitis or thrush?

Does the pain come on when you start to pee, in the middle of peeing or at the end of peeing?

Is it a good stream or a poor stream.
Do you feel that you want to pee again directly after emptying your bladder?

How old ar you?

The pain seems to be in the background all the time, will suddenly catch me off-guard if I stand up quickly like a quick stab. It hurts constantly whilst peeing. I feel the bladder is emptying properly. Its been 2 hours since last wee and I need to go again round about now. The flow seems a bit poorer than normal -maybe because I'm fighting it?

I'm 43. I also have 2 bitemarks on my hand from my last pee 2 hours ago. Thats the level of pain!
43 years old.......the excludes a lot of the more serious causes in a male.

At your age and with your symptoms it certainly sounds like bacterial prostatitis and not cystitis or indeed thrush as you mention.

Drink plenty of fluids and make an appointment to see your GP as you will need antibiotics.

No big deal.

Thanks Squad. Well I've been again and it was nowhere near as painful as 2 hours ago. I've been drinking plenty of water - probably the last thing I want to do as it means more pain, but I think its working.
Drinking plenty of water will wash out debris from the bladder and you will be ok.
I have had cystitis quite a lot visit to Doctor for antibiotics is favoured
