My 81 year old Aunt has moved in with her boyfriend after he had an operation. Now his grand-daughter wants to rent my Aunts house, which is just as my Aunt left it, so fully furnished. The grand-daughter is supposed to be signing a 6 month lease, but I am concerned that there may be implications that my Aunt hasn't thought of. What are we to be aware of, and is there a website which details all this things? The websites I could find did not seem complete with all the stuff I want to know about!

Oh, and does it make a difference if the Grand-daughter does not pay rent but pays the bills instead?

The above should help. The grandaughter should pay rent and the bills apart from Council Tax if it is included in the rent.

Thanks for that ubasses, but I was really looking for something a little more detailed, eg how she proves the safety of gas and electrical equipment and the fire safety of furniture, and how often this has to be done.

You might also get some help from the Shelter helpline, although I think they mainly deal with tenant's enquiries.
i really think a private family arrangement is different to a normal landlady/tenant lease! but the tax man may be interested if 'profits' are made!
she could just be a housesitter and cover ALL the expenses?
