getting back to the state you were originally. I know there is a term in contract law but I can't find it. Basicaly its when a deal has gone wrong and you are asking for the compensation/claim to put you back tot the situation you were in BEFORE the deal.

Any ideas?

cheers folks

Status quo ante, literally "the state in which before", means "the state of affairs that existed previously"
Rescission (the treating of the contract as though it had never existed) and restitution (the returning of goods, monies etc to put the parties in the position they were before) It's an action for 'rescission and restitution'. And if you like legal Latin you plead that the parties should be restored 'in statu quo ante'
