Personally, I keep a look out for men in stripey tops, wearing eye-masks and carrying bags marked with 'swag'........should I be doing more?

Great advice, TWR

We live in a quiet little cul de sac by the sea here on the south coast and we have some lovely elderly neighbours amongst them. We always look out for them and most have "NO COLD CALLER/NO SALESMAN" signs on their property, but we tell them that if someone ever calls, and is a bit pushy/wont leave, to ask them to wait a moment at the door and to phone one of us quickly and we will go and see what exactly they want and who they are.

We have seen off and reported many pushy sales people in the past and it seems word has got around, as we appear not to be ever bothered just lately.

i do think it is a very good idea to be alert when we see strangers around our neighbours property, especially if there are vulnerable people near us............

If I noticed someone in a bretton top, wearing a beret, a mask, and a bag marked "SWAG" ... then I'd keep an eye on them.

Its good to know some of the people on here are alert & will help others, but some cannot due to smugness.

I do, I even write down car registrations of vehicles which don't belong in our street.

I do anyway as a good neighbour and a very nosey person, I have been concerned lately as next door have not taken in their washing for a week, then they put out more washing and have left it out overnight again.
