What were the terms of the agreement when you started to look after them?

Were you being paid? Was there payment for food?

Did she give them to you but has now decided, for whatever reason she wants them back?
As you say they are your friend's horses she has the right to take them away.
If you looked after a friend's house for a few years while they were away, do you think you'd own their house after 3 years?

Or, if you tended someone's garden for 3 years, perhaps because they were disabled or elderly? Would you, by default, own their garden?

The answer is no.
key words are 'my friends horses' and 'ive been caring for'

....they are hers, you have no rights over them, she is not 'taking them from you' as they were never yours to begin with

if you took on this arrangement in the belief that they would become yours after a while then you are deluded.
By what arrangement have you been looking after them, was anything signed, who pays for what?

I took on my friend's cat - I insisted that she wrote me a note saying she was handing over ownership to me, in case she changed her mind later and wanted it back.
thats giving them to you though boxtops, thats not what kygirl has said...she states she is caring for her friends horses, not that she gave them to her...

if this friend has just had you paying for her horses all this time then you should invoice her for food, rent and labour etc
Were you a child minder as well, Kygirlbs?
you have no legal rights at all. why anyone would want to care for someone elses horses free of charge for three years beats me -i have three horses and it cost me in excess of 1000 per year per horse just for food. If she takes them from you and has to start to pay livery fees then she's cutting her nose off to spite her face - unless you have'nt been looking after them properly.....
This smacks of horseplay to me. Sorry I can not be of more help but if the horses belong to your friend then you do not have any legal rights over them. Have you known this friend all your life.
