Hi all

I need to get a solicitor or similar to authenticate my identity by appending their signature etc to copies of various documents(passport, utility bill etc).
What will be a typical charge in Edinburgh?

Thanks

I had to go through that process twice a two or three years ago (when I sold a piece of my garden to my neighbour). I was pleasantly surprised to find that the solicitor only charged me a fiver on each occasion.
You could get away with a Notary Public to authenticate your documents but most of them are solicitors anyway. Some of the larger firms are quite expensive so I'd phone around some of the smaller firms and ask about their charges for the sort of thing you're looking for. Good luck with the search.

Thanks for that. The list I have does say 'Postmaster'. I wonder if this is what they mean. I will check tomorrow.
I would have thought so, scotman. I work in the PO, and have done this service for customers. Takes minutes.

I used to charge a fiver. Some can charge an initial fee and smaller extra fee per additional document though so do check first and take cash as not many law firms have card facilities.
