Are you married? Do you have joint financial arrangements? Think you may need to give a bit more info for the law heads to advise you more throughly.
Question Author
yes married, joint bank account with nothing in it, he always kept his money and i always kept mine
are thjey joint debts? joint bank accounts? married?
Question Author
no his debts,
Joint debts?
Question Author
no joint debts, yes married
Any debt in in your name is yours and any debt in his name his his regardless of whether or not you were married
Any joint debts also remain as that, joint and payable by both parties but it does equate to half each, each one, should the debt not be paid, will be liable for the whole amount
if you have your own bank account then you are not liable for any debt that is attached to his account - he is. debts from the joint bank account are 1/2 your responsibility. don't let him or anyone else (including a bank) tell you otherwise x
Question Author
We have our own bank accounts, not even in the same bank, he has debts in his name,, I'm debt free, very very little in joint bank account, just need to know how it stands law wise?
then, by law, his debts are his debts and nothing to do with you
