If one was to get a letter requesting to know who was driving a vehicle over a level crossing on a certain day and the date of the alleged offence was right day but wrong date where does one stand?Thanks in advance.

I would answer the question as it has been asked.
Reply back to them asking what date they mean. Is this not obvious though?

Wrong date as in wednesday 19 may when that day was 18 may.
Obviously 'something' happened on that day/date........ you know full well what it was and why the Police are asking...........you could try being 'clever' but I doubt that it will get you too far.
it would depend what mood I was in - I may answer with "It was impossible for me to have been driving over the level crossing on the time and date specified" but then again I may have been in a more co operate move and asked them for clarification.
