Is it lawful for the local planning officer to give the copies of objections to a planning application to the applicant including the objectors names and addresses/email addresses? I understand that the applicant has the right to know why people are opposed to his application but furnished with the objections he then went round to the objectors homes and threatened/abused them all. Surely objectors personal details should not have been given out? Do we have grounds for complaint?

It is all published and available on the website of the relevant Planning Department.
Looks like a matter for the police.
When you get notified of a planning application you're told that all correspondence relating to it will be available to the public.
As has been said the names of any objectors are shown on the website of the planning authority. You can go to the offices and see any letters of objection to any planning application, even if it is not your own.

I agree this is a police matter.
I obviously don't condone this person's actions, and it is indeed a matter for the police, but I think it is perfectly acceptable for objectors to be known to the person seeking planning permission.

If you object, you should stand-up and be counted.
