will a fine prevent my ex joining the army in jan

basically i have found out that the cps have agreed to drop the charges against my ex and drop them to section 39 common assault,
i have also found out that he is going to recieve a fine, thats it.
if he pays it off before he is due to start his phase one will this stop his career or will he be okay?

wont he still have a criminal record for common assault though?
I didnt realise he had been to court yet

yes he will have a record still but his punishment will be a fine, he's not yet been to court but he has been told by his solicitor that he will recieve a fine of £200
