You may get a caution but they usually issue you with one of those there and then. The worst will probably be a fine but that will result in a conviction which stays on your record longer than a caution before it becomes spent. A caution is spent instantly and will only be disclosed on standard CRB checks until it is stepped down, which for a drugs offence is 10 years. After which it will only be disclosed on an enhanced CRB check. Convictions will be on Standard CRB checks for life.

Thanks, however there is something i am unclear about. The prosectution papers state " a qty of cocaine " aren't they suppose to be more specific, the amount found was worth less than a couple of quid by my reckoning and was minute.
Don't worry, Morph, they won't try to make out that you had 10 kilos on you or anything like that.

"a quantity" is simply the jargon used in these sorts of cases and should it go as far as a Court appearance, the CPS will have to produce it as an exhibit and obviously the Magistrates will see for themselves that they're not looking at some big time dealer.
