Hi Guys cud anyone point me in the right direction? About 18 months ago my nephew went shopping in our local supermarket & as he only needed a few items didn't bother to use a trolley or hand basket. He had 2 box's of headache pills in his hand when his mobile phone rang & being the scatter brain he his. he put the pills in his pocket answered his phone & carried on getting 3 more items At the checkout he paid for his items & on leaving the store was stopped buy a store detective who took him in2 a room told him he had been seen putting the pills in his pocket. My nephew explained about his phone ringing & just forgot once at the checkout the store detective then said the police wouldn't be called & that all he was going to give my nephew was a letter to say ''if he went back in the store again he could be charged with trespassing'' Does anyone know how long this kind of exclusion ban lasts? Many thanx in advance of any help

I don't think you can be charged with trespassing - it's a civil matter not involving the police so in effect the shop itself would have to sue him. This is highly unlikely but they would be able to tell him to get out if they saw him there. It's likely to last as long as anyone remembers his face, I suppose.

Always use a basket - for just this reason.
