Does anybody get nuisance calls from this number asking them for your personal details - saying they are the Halifax bank. I have had over 100 (believe me i have) over the last 6/7 days. I have contacted my bank and the police and anybody else who will listen, but they can't do anything. Just be careful and DONOT give your details out.

Have reported it to anyone that will listen. BT, NTL, Offcom, TPS, my bank and the police. They just tell me not to give any information out and there is nothing they can do because there has been no crime committed. Just have to wait till they take thousands (That i haven't got) out of my bank. Bit of a worry but I googled the number and there are loads of people that this is happening to. Hopefully they won't get some little old lady who gives her details (my mother would) and rob her of her life savings.
According to BT themselves (in a leaflet they've sent here) they offer a service called "Choose to Refuse". You can block up to ten numbers, in advance. Then people using those numbers won't get through to your phone. You can also bar the number of the last caller . Customers who have their calls rejected hear a message saying so. BT info is on a freephone number:0800 789 456 or on their website bt.com. To set up the service you need a PIN. To use it ,you dial 14258 and add the number to your list.
