No, I wouldn't choose to be British. I'd be french any day of the week. It seems so much nicer, and less dumpy over there.
Definitely. I'm English but lived in France for 9 years from the age of 10 to 19. I had a great state education, lived in beautiful surroundings and ate good food. I wouldn't swap that experience for the world.
I'm just waiting for my chance to go back.
I like the French countryside and the way of life, it's more laid back than ours, but I'm glad I was born British , I love Britain, but not what it's becoming........ We British are lazy when it comes to learning foreign languages but the French are still arrogant even when you speak to them in their own language ! or is it that they just don't like the English after all ??
I was in paris last month, to give them credit their transport system is excellent. But they are still a bunch of militant left wing whingers.

P.s. As a Scot I would also say their football team is inferior to the world class boys from Alba :-P
Just back from La France - prices have soared since they went into the Euro! I also hate what Britain has become/is becoming. Would definitely rather be French.........or German or Italian 0r Dutch or............ anything but British!
French, just because its so laid back, or is that the wine!!
I'm happy being British but French sounds like a pretty good second choice.

Rather be Spanish...great food, great weather, and in Barcelona's Las Ramblas, you stand a pretty good chance of crossing the road without being killed by an insane motorist...unlike the Champs Elysee...which always looks like a scene from Deathrace 2000.

(Those who have been there know what I mean).
I think a lot of us Brits have a rose tinted view of France, there is a lot of unemployment there and doesanyone remember the recent riots all over France? Im quite happy being English and if I was going to be anything else it would be Swedish. Tack, Hej Dor!
neither...the irish have got it sorted...at least they have where i know about

Re: Sweden...the two girls from Abba are now gandmothers.

Get over it.
ha ha SP - My Ex was Swedish and I can speak enough to have a conversation, Ive been there many times and find it a much friendlier, cleaner place just a bit more boring.
And cook my Full English in Olive oil? I think not! Wave the white flag at the slightest sign of trouble? Never! Though they'd more likely hit the big red button than surrender next time...

I am half French, I would say that between the two, French have the better lifestyle and closer community spirit. But I prefer the sense of humour and self degradation in England!
I have been to France a couple of times (great food) and Spain loads of times (great clubs).

Of the two, I prefer Spain (not your Costa Blancas or whatever - I'm talking about Barcelona and Sitges).

Ward~Minter...'Gerry' should be spelled 'Jerry'.

I prefer Britain to France. I find them most unfriendly. I even noticed a huge difference in attitudes between the Canadians in Toronto and that wonderful French-Canadian hospitality in Montreal,,,,,not!
non
I wonder if Ward-Minter has fogiven the Spanish for the Armada yet?
