Jeremy Corbyn has apologised for any offence a holocaust survivor might have caused 7 years ago in comparing Israel’s treatment of the Palestinians with the Nazi’s treatment of the Jews.

Why should he apologise?

It’s a perfectly legitimate point of view, expressed by someone with more right than most to make it!

Why can’t Corbyn stand up for himself?

Sounds like an opinion you share bainbrig.

?
// Why should he apologise? ..... It’s a perfectly legitimate point of view //

maybe. but the point of view also appears here -
https://www.holocaustremembrance.com/working-definition-antisemitism

second bullet point from the bottom. in creating their own definition, the labour party left this particular point off.

this could be why he's apologising for 2010? I'm only guessing though.
// in creating their own definition, the labour party left this particular point off. //

They left off a few, which I suppose are the ones Corbyn and comrades are guilty of doing. It would have been better if they'd just taken a stand at that point and said we're not adopting that definition because we don't agree with it. It'd still look bad though.

What a mess.
Whatever the reason for not abopting the policy in full they haven’t explained properly or adequately why they haven’t.

Had they done that then people would know if they are anti Semitic or not.

In any case Corbyn apologies are usually quite wholly. He apologies for ‘the upset’ it may have caused but not for the actual offence. Always a non apology in my book (whoever is saying it)
JC is a seasoned politician. He probably cant make an apology that isn't woolly any more - just like the rest of the shower in Westminster!

Talbot. Your attempt at stirring it (“Sounds like an opinion you share bainbrig.”) is misplaced.

My views are as irrelevant as yours - well, not quite, but you get my drift.

Corbyn should have made a stand, stood up for the right of a Holocaust survivor to express an opinion.

He lacks a Backbone
Shares it with Treason May by the looks of things.
I am feeling uncomfortable about this, I will be the first to say I do not know much about Israel and Palestine but thought it was understandable that after what happened to the Jews they would be very protective of their rights . But for the last few years watching what happens when Palestine does something wrong the reaction seems to be way way over the top , such as bulldozing someone's home ? I have considered reading up on the subject but thought , what do I read , where would I find the truth ? Would I live long enough to read all that is written about the subject .
