Hi, i know my son should ask his probation officer but it is quicker to ask on here sometimes, my son is on tag at the moment and therefore has to see his probation officer once a week, if he is lucky enough to find employment would they come to an arrangement with him regarding seeing them every week as surley this would be impossible if he was to get a job. thanks

The probation service will do its best to accommodate people who are in work and who have to keep appointments with them. After all, one of their aims is to rehabilitate offenders and gaining employment is an important part of that t
process. The last thing they want is to jeopardise somebody's work prospects by insisting they keep appointments they cannot make because of work committments. How they manage offenders in that respect is up to them.

However, curfew requirements directed by the court cannot be varied by the probation service. If a variation to the hours of curfew is needed (for whatever reason) the offender has to return to court to get permission. The probation service will usually support the offender at the hearing if the reason is valid and genuine.

Thanks for your replies, its just that someone told him in prison that even if he gets a job he still has to report to the probation every week, He really wants to get a job but what company would employ him if he has to take 2 hours off a week to go to see probation ? as his probation office is in a different town.
As has been said, the Probation service do not just work 9 to 5 Monday to Friday. If your son gets a job the probation will arrange to see him at a suitable time , I have heard of them seeing people at weekends or evenings. This is a common problem and there are ways round it.
