I have now tried four FREE credit rating sights ,who one way or another want to charge me £15plus to find out my credit rating..is it actually possible to find out for free?

Go into any bank and ask for a credit card - if they give you one your credits good if they don't its bad.

Have you ever been in arrears? Had a CCJ? If not your CR is probably good.

Not all cons are illegal, you don't need this check unless you might think your identity has been stolen,

Not sure about credit ratings but if you want a credit report you can get the statutory credit report from equifax for £2. I did mine a little while ago. They send it in the post.
Credit ratings are calculated differently by each lender anyway, so none of this sites will be able to give you a definitive answer. They can highlight any obvious problems though, so can be useful in some cases.
