Can my ex wife force me to auction the house?

I am recently divorced. The matrimonial home is up for sale. My ex wife moved out of the matrimonial home and is in the process of buying her own house. She says she is going to get the court to order the matrimonial home be auctioned due to the poor housing market. Can she do this?

If the house is in both names then I believe any type of sale, including auction, will need the signed authority of both parties.

However, please don't take my answer as 100%.

Who owns the house?

Is there a mortgage on it?

Can you afford to buy her out?

It is possible to get an order for sale through the courts though it can be very expensive.
