hello, i started a new role (promotion) within my company a few months back. I am not happy with the role as it stands although i am told changes will be made to rectify this.

my question is, am i entitled to request for my probationary period to be extended (as the company is entitled to extend it) so that i am sure i am happy in my new role before i accept it officially.

My HR manager insists that i do not have the right to, but i have never heard before of something like this that does not work both ways, as surely employment law is there to protect both parties?

thanks.

should i be able to return to my old role?

i would prefer to do this and was told by my manager at interview stage that it would be possible. However after recent experience with HR and higher management i get the feeling that they would say this is not possible.

I have been with the company for over 12 months.
and i have proven myself in my new role but i feel that the benefits are far outweighed by the negatives in my current role.

thanks for your help.

thanks for that, i think they will say that there is not another role to move to or back to as they want me to stay in my current job.

i will be looking for another job ASAP, but there is not much around at the moment. I was just looking to minimise stress from now until then. looks like ill just have to keep my head down.

thanks for your thoughts!
