my car like most have a manual headlight height adjuster
on my mot i asked the guy testing the headlight setting if the thumb wheel that sets the height should be at max for this test or set low,he said on its low setting,
this is wrong if its at its lowest setting when the headlights are being adjust by a
garage etc they cannot be set not to dazzle oncoming traffic if you have heavy load
in the rear hence setting the car on a rear squat as the adjuster is already at the
lowest set , the head lights should be set with that adjust at max then they can be lowered to compensate for a squat
,i think that why there are so many headlights dazzling you now (apart from the blueish zennons)
and i think a lot of drivers haven't a clue what the headlight adjuster is of if thev'e even found it

Fine if you are continually running around with a heavy load, in which case have your suspension beefed up.
The headlights should be set with an unloaded car, but if you're that concerned then you'll just have to keep adjusting your headlights every time you load or unload the car.
I agree that most drivers dont have a clue what the headlight adjuster is for. For mot purposes its always set to zero on the test and adjusted if wrong. Unless you have a boot full of cement the load should not affect it.

sigma the head lights are adjusted with an unladen car
the question (read again) was about the in car adjusters and what should they be set at in an mot test on the headlights the mot guy said at lowest setting
(think about it) i say should be at highest setting,wrong,the dynamics of it says that

if the adjuster is set to zero and the lights adjusted at that setting and you put "6 bags of cemet" in the boot you cant adjust them down not to dazzle as they would have been already been set to zero if they were set with the in car adjuster at max then you could lower them
a lot of drivers are driving around the country not knowing rules of the road regarding lights :- ie foglights and headlights when they should be on or off so why should they know what the thumb wheel is for

the thumb wheel in my opinion should be set at zero when the car is running at normal driving conditions
if someone is in the back then it should be lowered
and if the car is tilting down for some unobscure reason it should be set at high

but then thats my opinion which may or may not be wrong
I always get dazzled maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan

turning the thumb wheel to high points the light towards the moon!
i leave the question i first posed it seems none can get the jist of it
O or zero is the highest... turning to 2 , 3 , 4 ect lowers the headlamp aim
