Not there isn't. Just high-hedge legislation to deal with the inevitable after about 10 years.

The high hedge legislation buildersmate refers to affects hedges (obviously - so it must be 2 or more with overlapping branches - a single tree is unaffected), it must be over 2m high and it must interfere with somebody's "reasonable enjoyment of their property" which means that you have to call out the council to assess the situation - fees vary and are sometimes refundable if they find in your favour.
