i repair vehicles for a living. a vehicle has been in my care for two and a half years. the vehicle came in with engine blown, the owners could not afford the very high repair costs at the time. in the meantime they have moved address, changed phone number etc, no contact with them for two years. i decided enough was enough and applied for registration document in my name. because dvla have contacted them over change of ownership now they turn up and expect me to purchase vehicle from them. i could ask for storage costs i guess, which at todays rates would be more than value of vehicle. what are my legal rights to claim ownership of said vehicle.

Ye well take the root that you have mentioned and stick em with a bill for storage + interest and whatever else you can think of.

My car broke down last year in the middle of a busy town and to cut a long story short it was towed away into a car lot. Cost 240 to get it Back.

Best of luck.

give them the original bill+ costs of storage, and don't release it untill they pay.tell them they can give you a reciept transfering ownership of said car in leiu of payment (if you want to ) or you could say if they don't pay you will have to sel the car to recover some of your costs.

if they try to take you to court they will get very short shrift. coz they no pay their bil in full.
