I run a small business with upto 10 - 15 staff and my accountant has given me the news that there is a PAYE inspection in the near future.

As I have not experienced this kind of scrutiny I would like to hear from other experienced managers who have dealt with PAYE inspections what i should expect.

My accountant reassures me that our books are in order but when it comes to Taxman I want to ensure I am prepared for the Inspection.

No reason not to believe your accountant (I hope!!) so don't worry about it. It's a routine thing for the Revenue and the people who carry out PAYE Inspections are generally very helpful and not just "out to get you". Any minor discrepancies would result in you being "educated" rather than penalised and once everything is in order (if it's not already) then you wil feel a mighty sense of relief. Just don't try to hide anything that you or your accountant know isn't quite right.
