I work as a civil servant and work on a 6 week rota which includes, nights, days, weekends etc. My ex partner has refused me any access to my son unless i stick to a rigid monthly rota that works around her 9-5 Monday to Friday job. I have advised i can give up to two months notice on the dates that i can have my son and as per an agreement we have with another organisation, i will have for a minimum of 8 nights each month, if not more. She has instructed that if i cannnot commit to all of her dates then i cannot see my son at all. This is impossible and far from reasonable. I have tried discussion and negotiation techniques but get no response apart from "no commitment to my demands, no access". I have looked at mediation but dont feel this is an option. I have also looked into court orders but 'm going to struggle with legal costs. Can anybody help? Do i have any rights apart from " responsible parent"?
