I've had 2 jobs in the past that involved 'shift' work (on rotation). We didn't get anything extra for working nights. If you had to work overtime when on days (alongside nightshift workers). Then you would be on 'overtime' rate.

I think the only 'bonus' you can expect is.. 1. The extra day off before you start your nightshifts. 2. There's no management around!.. It's creates a completely different atmosphere in the workplace... Once you're past the chronic fetigue, irratability, nausia and stomach pains. (suppose it's a bit like jetlag). You'll love it.

Oh.. And the pale skin. And the oversized pupils making any bright light agonisingly painful.

However. Plus sides are.. You'll never miss another phone call offering you a mobile phone contract/double glazing (usually when you're sleeping). You'll get to see 'Trisha', Every day. You can laugh at your friends for being drunk when they call you from parties....

I've worked nights and had a shift allowance of 33% on top of the basic rate, another plus is facing the postman at 9.30 in the morning after your last night and you've had a bit of a session
