Accounting Jobs

The role of an accountant is always expanding, and in recent times many accountants have taken on the mantle of ‘business adviser’ as their knowledge and skills have proved essential for thriving businesses.

Some of the tasks accountants take on now don’t just involve finances, they also:

•    Help businesses realise their goals
•    Evaluate systems within a company and suggest improvements
•    Advise businesses on effective tax strategies

A qualification in an accounting capacity is essential to apply for other accountancy roles, so either a relevant degree or a qualification will help. This isn’t the only way to get involved, however, as those without formal qualifications can take on internships to learn the tricks of the trade, as long as they prove to have good numeracy skills and a logical and reasoned approach to their job.

Those who take on an entry level role as an accountant can expect a yearly salary of around £15,000, and they could see this rise to £30,000 with qualifications and experience.

Accountancy opens up a number of other career doors too, allowing you to eventually start your own accountancy firm or become a partner in one.

People interested in accountancy jobs may also like to check out jobs in other financial sectors, such as investment banking, banking, corporate finance and audir jobs.
