Hi, I'm wanting to train to be a paramedic or Ambulance technician but i've just been made bankrupt due to me losing my last job and having a few loans. I know that you can't be in the police force or a doctor if you are classed as bankrupt. But can you train to be a Ambulance technician?

actually you can become a policeman if you have been made bankrupt. i have a good friend in the police who joined 2 years ago and he has been made bankrupt twice. once in scotland and once in england. so you can be a policeman if this happens to you. to train to be a paramedic or similar your credit history should not cause any concern to your employers as you would not have any "temptation" put in your way, (like a policeman), therefore you would not have a problem. if i was you i would contact the relevant training course operators and check with them first

Ex-ambulance service here, no it wouldn't affect your chances of getting into the service, there are no checks done on credit/financial history, the only checks done are the CRB (criminal records bureau) checks and employment history, and they wouldn't ask for any financial history...

hope that answers your question
