Performing Artists Management Agencies

Our friend is a really talented singer / songwriter in Norfolk. He needs to be professionally assessed and, hopefully, signed for a recording / performing contract.
He's already fallen foul of one fraudulent agency which demanded money in advance but which would not prove its credentials, so my question is this:- How can we find a reputable agent who will advise him or possibly take him on?

It may be worth writing to a good performing arts or music school for an agent. My daughter attends a school in london and has access only to reputable agencies.

Majority of these agencies are only interested in the money they can make from you,beware it is harder than you think the thing is this.
They want you if you are already well known if you are not they are not interested.
It is a long hard road
