Phone up your local college. If you have been out of education for some time sometimes they require you to do an access to health course which I think is the equivalent to an A level.

They will advice from there.
Also nafl, the places to get on the course are so limited they favour applicants with work experience in care. If you are starting right from scratch an access to nursing course will give you the educational requirement, on top of that however you really need to start working as a care assistant somewhere. Have a browse through the UCAS site to see if there is a college/uni that offers a course in a viable place for you to study too.
Hi, i have been trying to get into midwifery for years!! It such fierce competition its unbelieveable!!!!!
You basically need to be the best of the best, top a levels, or equivalent, plus experience, i have volunteered on maternity along with worked on a gynae ward for 6 months, my grades r the minimum required and have not got a place 4 years running!!
If you google midwifery training then the unis should come up then u can choose one nearer you and their entry requirements!
What i am going to do is train in nursing then go on to do the 18 months course for midwifery once i have gained my nursing degree.
With only about 25 places at my uni, over 300 people apply for places! so ur really up against it, u can apply to 5 unis, but only midwifery, not nursing at one and midwifery at another. xx good luck and i really hope u make it!!!! xxx
