slightly tricky one but I know the girl I work with is planning on leaving in April which is half way through her holiday year. I know she already has used more then half her entitlement and planning more - what is the implication with this? She will work a months notice so will she just get money taken off her final salary?

That's certainly the usual way of correcting it. Companies have no reason to allow staff leavers to get away with this.
From past experiences the holiday is calculated as pro rata over the holiday year to the date of leaving, and any overtaken holiday is deducted from any final salary due.

It may be worthwhile checking employment contract. If there is not enough salary in the final month to deduct from an overpayment calculation may be done and she may be requested to repay the net amount owed.

I cannot guarantee anything as each company operates differently - this is just what I have seen happen on most occasions.

thank you both for your help - she wont have taken that much over her entitlement by that period I just wondered what would happen. I did not imgaine she would get away with it was really trying to work out could they do anything more about it - she is not looking for a reference from them as far as I am aware.
