is it appropriate to wear white shoes to work? In a formal setting, such as an office or court room?

i worked in a bakery were we had to wear white boots so the managers knew if you had cleaned them at the end of your shift, they had to be clean to work in that sort of enviroment
It would depend on any institutional dress codes, of course, but people are less concerned about the appropriateness of what we wear these days. I work in an office and wear jeans most of the time - it's just that sort of office. I doubt I would get away with it in 'the city', though.

White shoes probably demonstrate a lack of taste and/or fashion sense, but mostly, as long as a person looks clean and tidy and what they wear isn't offensive, they should be OK.
