Cheap travel insurance for student?

I will be going to Hong Kong for 4 days in September then onward to Japan for 11 months on a student visa. Can anyone recommend any good insurance companies that would give me a good price for this? The prices I've been quoted so far are a bit ridiculous.

I've found that a backpacker travel insurance to be the cheapest insurance cover but would it be suitable for my trip?

Go for ICICI Lombard if you need cheap travel insurance for students. I bought their student travel insurance policy for Bradley University. It provides various benefits such as trip cancellation facility, coverage up to 85 years without medical test, reimbursement for travel delay, etc. at an affordable price.
