What is the difference between a Taught and Research Masters degree!! I need to download the application form but im not sure which one i need!! The university website does not state which one my chosen course is!! Can anyone help!! Im applying to do a MA in Arts and Museum Management at Salford University Manchester!! Please can anyone help??

The difference is:

1. Taught Masters is (usually) a 1 year full-time degree course, that upon graduating means you are awarded an MA or MSc, but with no direct route onto a PhD programme (so you would need to go the admissions process for this separately).

2. A Taught Research degree can be 1 or 2 years, and on successful completion (with an MRes) is a direct route onto a PhD.

I must say that it sounds an interesting course! I did Archaeology & History (and modules on musuems and their representation) and I loved it!
