So far this evening I have seen three apparently separate interviews with the McCann parents (Sky, BBC 24 and ITN). The interviewer was different in each case. Did the parents actually do three separate interviews?

Sky is certainly getting it's money worth, it's all they are showing.
How strange that they seemed calm and composed, and were talking as though they had lost some property rather than their daughter, not a tear or even a faltering voice from either of them.

They said they will always feel guilty that they were not with her when she was taken - for god's sake, if they had been with her she would not have been taken!

Something very surreal about all this.
i agree lankeela they seem vey calm. now i dont expect to be seeing them wailing on the tv every 10 minutes but every time they are on the tv they seem very calm and collected and when they came out of church last week mr mcann was actually laughing and waving at the crowd like some minor celebrity.very strange......................
I guess they've been through similar interviews a lot and it is indeed getting a bit unreal for them. But they seem to think that constant media interviews will somehow bring their daughter back. I'm not quite sure how, but you can't blame them for hoping.
wise words jno i guess youd go to any lengths to get your child back i guess its very frustrating for them and i dont think the police investigation has been dealt with very well.the british police should have been involved much earlier.
if you heard what the interviewer said before the interview on sky you would have heard him say that they did not want to show any emotion on the tv as it is a private thing, and lankeela i think that kate mccann pulled through that interview very well, her voice was very weak at times and her husband jumped in to answer the question as she was too upset. i do hope they get a good outcome and i agree that the british police should have been involved much earlier.
I think that because the Portuguese Police work differently and do not make public everything they are doing, we should not jump to conclusions about them or criticise them. None of us know the facts, and why should the British Police being brought in earlier have made things better? For all we know, the Portuguese police may well be on the brink of solving this.

Personally, I think they may well surprise us very soon.
It's possible it was the SAME interview with 3 different interviewers. Recorded at the same time but on separate cameras, will create different angles, then edited differently will broadcast different bits while cutting in the interviewer. This creates 3 very different films of exactly the same situation. This is the norm with the news. They could have done 3 separate interviews though I didn't see any of them.

I'm not suspicious of the McCanns and I don't think people are justified in thinking their lack of emotional on TV is a sign of something sinister.
I image they don't allow themselves to think the worst, I don't think the worst has even entered their heads yet. They are on a train of thought that their daughter is missing temporary, they believe they'll get her back. The alternative isn't worth thinking about, it would destroy them, it's a living hell and who would want to live like that.

I just think that if it had been one of my children then I would have been begging and pleading with all my might for whoever had her to let my little girl come home. I am sure I would not have been so composed.
I'm not going to sit in judgement of these parents and i think its awful how people are doing just that! If only we were all perfect parents who made the right decision what to do in every situation, every time. If they appear calm then no doubt that is their own way of handling this situation and none of us see what happens behind closed doors when the cameras stop rolling. How anyone can think there is something strange about them is beyond me. None of us, thank God, can say how we would deal with it. Maybe they are just numb from weeks of pain! remember too that they have two other children to consider and just sit and think if you would sit wailing in front of them!
The simple fact is that they made a bad decision leaving those children alone that night but who on earth would expect a child to be abducted in this way. I cant condemn them for that decision, and i would imagine that is a fairly common practice by parents on their holidays (no, i personally wouldn't do it) but they have to live with what they did for the rest of their lives and that alone will be a living hell for them , let alone the public stringing them up for it.
Maybe we can start blaming parents every time a tragedy like this happens. If a child gets knocked over then where were the parents, if a child has an accident in the home, then , why weren't the parent s watching them! It could be never ending. We as parents are NOT perfect and so lets stop judging the Mcanns! They are suffering enough.
99% of Harold Shipmans patients thought he was the best and most helpful GP around. So to think any parent is incapable of doing anything is naive in the least. It has been proven time and again that parents can be killers so to outright banish any such thoughts in this case is a tad silly.
Agree 100% with julie on this one, none of us can speculate how we'd react if this happened to us and God willing none of will have to!

This couple are going through living hell- to vilify them is just pure evilness.
B00, on friday at work i was talking to a customer who works under him at the hospital and has done for the last few years, she was telling me how he absolutely adores Maddie and they had to have IVF to concieve her and the twins. he doted on her and she says he does not look the same as he did and as for kate, she has got very thin so i defy anyone to say they dont care because they are acting calm about the situation in front of the cameras and around their other children. This is the type of people they are. I wish that would be understood, we all deal with things very differently and this is their way!
Still agree with ya julie, people deal with grief differently. My heart goes out to this couple, and like you I can't bring myself to totally hold them responsible for leaving their 3 children in the room alone.

Yes they made a fatal judgement of error (who is a perfect parent anyway?), one which they will regret for the rest of their lives.

maybe 10Clarionst, if they want to waste time on this than the real abusers of kids then let them get on with it, i dont think they have a leg to stand on personally!
just because they are not breaking down in front of us, does not mean they are not distraught and devastated!! People handle emotions differently and for all we know, kate McCann could be on medication.
