how do you profile someone as if for a magazine? what format does a 'profile' take? is it like an interview or is it written without the other person there like a kind of story about them?

A profile is just that: an outline of someone's life. You just give the basic points of when and where the person was born where they grew up, what career they took on, partners, marriage, etc
