Can anyone tell me if a person with a conviction for assault could possible be accepted on a nursing course?

I would doubt it, especially if the conviction in recent.
Not a mission - conviction for assault prevents you working with vulnerable groups, such as children, people with learning disability and people who are ill.
I believe, though, that there is a time limit on a person's record, and after a certain number of years without a conviction, the record is deleted. Don't know if this applies to assault, though.
I believe there is a 10 yr period ... (rehabilitation of offenders act) when its up you dont need to declare it unless you are advised that ALL convictions must be disclosed ... but i may be wrong ...
check the CRB website, this will give you timescales of spent convictions etc

Thanks everyone although its not what i wanted to hear. Didn't really expect that it would have been possible but thought it would be worth asking. and by the way just for the record I'm not a maniac that goes around assaulting people but was just in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Thanks again
at the end of the day they can only say no. but of course it does depend on the the details and how recent.
