Why? the world speaks or is learning English.
German is supposed to be closely related to English (same root, I think), and I know many of its words are similar. Put it this way, my sister speaks it, and she ain't the brightest button on the jacket, believe me.

Latin's quite easy, but of course, no-one speaks that these days, so it would be a little pointless.
German has similar words for some things, but very different grammar.
I think the widely held belief is that Spanish is the easiest second language to learn for an English speaker.

There are actually a lot of similarities in a lot of words between Spanish and English, although the spelling is slightly different and pronunciation very different. Spanish grammar and pronunciation follows very simple rules generally though, and so is relatively simple to learn.
You should look at which one you are going to use the most. If you go on holiday toi spain or spanish speaking countries I would suggest spanish as you would be ablke to use it and understand it. They do say practise makes perfect so it is pointless learning a language you won't use.
that's a very good point mosesg. I personally can't remember much at all about French or German from school cos I haven't used it for 10 years. A point all too painfully obvious when I tried talking to a German a couple of months back!!
i'd definately say either german, french or spanish... more so german though. it's more similar to english than the other languages, and its not very hard to learn the grammar and such like either.
It's easy to learn a second language if you're living in the country which speaks it. Your brain just takes it all in like any kid learning his/her first language. English is considered the easiest language to learn to speak though spelling isn't too easy. I'd say learning spanish as a second language is worthwhile if you want to travel.
Why not Welsh?
german sentence structure is a ****** though...go with spanish!!
