There is no law on pay rises, save the national minimum wage. Nor are you eligible for free eye tests - what you should be doing is having breaks from the screen. I'm not sure about the frequency, but I am sure there are health and safety executive regulations about it.

I'm pretty sure that employers do have to pay for eye tests if an employee uses a computer as part of their job. There is definitely no law about a pay rise though!
You are entitled to ask for an eye test. The employer is obliged to pay for the initial test, though is not obliged to pay you for the time off taken for the test. Neither are they obliged to pay for any corrective lenses or treatment you may require.
I ought to have added that your occupational health person (if you have one on site) will be able to fill you in on what you are entitled to, and arrange for the test and the reimbursement. If you don't have a nurse on site, consult with your health and safety rep. and they ought to be able to fill you in, or at least get access to the necessary details.
Employers do have to pay a certain amount towards corrective lenses if you work with a computer all day, but only if it can be proved that using the computer was directly responsible for your deteriorating eyesight. This is very difficult to prove however and opticians are not very keen on agreeing that using a computer is the reason.

The law states that firstly you should have a work station assessment. You should also be entitled to breaks every hour you are sat in front of the PC.

If you dont currently wear glasses then you are entitled to a free eye test and if the optician recommends you wear glasses for the purpose of using a PC then your employer should pay for the minimum cost i.e. standard lenses and glasses. You do not have to prove that your eye sight has deterioted due to PC work and an optician is there to look after you and your eyes and shouldnt give a toss about your employer!! LOL

However, you should push for a workstation assessment by your H&S bod - that is the law!
