I would like to go to a poor country and help them.

however, most sites i have looked at, you have to pay to get there unless you are a nurse. i can't afford it.

my only skills are art/design and perhaps language and also pretty handy with wood etc as i do a lot of set construction. also clothesmaking

or even some kind of film making...? don't know how much use that would be though

i suppose the art stuff may be good for school kids and perhaps murals or something for hospital walls, building play areas, cots even houses etc. and they could make their own clothes or repair or alter things

does anyone know of any opportunities to do this with the skills i have to offer? i know its non essential stuff but as i am not medically trained above first aid its the best i can offer.

i may be able to pay for flights etc, but so far they have cost loads and i simply can't afford it

thanks

Have a look at the VSO - if you are under 25 you need at least one year's voluntary service experience and /or community service and 900.

They are not enlisting at the moment, but if you are serious at helping poorer people, volunteer in the UK first so you have some experience of working with disadvantaged people.

Good luck.

There is a great organisation that can arrange for you to help others - in this country.

So no flights needed! They cover many different aspects of voluntary work so there is likely to be an outlet for your talents.

Good luck.
