Hi, I have posted a similar question before, but think I may have confused everyone. I am currently working as a civil servant on a 51 week contract, of which I am about half way through. This is by far the best job I have ever had. However, my employers cannot garauntee that they will be able to keep me on after this period. I only have my GCSE's, and am a registered child minder (no work in my area) and have run 2 businesses before the age of 22. Does anyone have any idea of how to cope with the worry of not knowing future job prospects? and does anyone have any idea what I could do if I do lose my job? Thanks in advance x

Everyone copes with things in different ways. In the past I have taken the view that redundancy is an inevitable risk of being employed. If it's inevitable there is precious little you can do to avoid it so don't waste time worrying about it. Move on. If you do loose your job...get another!

Think ahead. Don't wait until you are actually booted out before looking for something else. You may well enjoy the job you have now but you don't owe the employer anything. Clearly he/she isn't thinking of your future well being so you need to. If you get an offer of a more permenant job elsewhere in the mean time, then grab it with both hands. There's no room for sentiment in business!
