Does anyone know when the 11 plus ended in West Yorkshire. I cannot remember anyone in my school taking it and I am 43. Could it have been different for Catholic schools

Very likely as the primary schools probably just fed into the appropriate secondary school.
I took my 11 plus and I'm also 43 but I first had to apply for a place at the local grammar school and then I went to that school to take the exam with everyone else who had applied - I got a place (after 3 interviews) and have wondered ever since how I would have turned out if I hadn't been schooled in such an elitest environment. It wasn't all bad but tended to encourage a superior type attitude that I have strived to quell since.
I' m in West Yorkshire and I took my 11-plus in 1971.
