Study Abroad Vs. Placement Year?

I'm a genetics student interested in a research career in neuropsychology and mental health (the mechanistic side of it). I was offered to spend one year of my Bachelors working in industry OR studying abroad (something like Psychology) for free plus brush up on my German. I thought industry isn't very relevant and the unis we're offered are mostly rubbish.
What do you think is better in this case, career-wise? I don't care about having a good time or not, I just really really want a research position somewhere...

Thanks!!!

I'd choose the industry without a doubt. Learning how the real world works is very valuable.
In my personal opinion it would depend entirely on what placement you could get in industry. If it relates heavily to your chosen research field of neuropsychology then it is worth doing but if not then the extra study in this subject might to you better in the long run.
