It has come to this and I am considering applying for a bank teaching role (it is ideal for me - it's at a new vocational school, 25 hours a week, my subject, etc). How much do bank teachers get paid? When I left my previous job (6 1/2 years ago) I was at the top of the pay scale, plus 5 responsibility points and I had jumped threw all the hoops that they introduced for the new pay thing. Any help would be brilliant.

What happened to the managers job?

I have applied for that but it is only at a small nursery, 30 hours a week plus it's not term time. The teaching job would pay far more, fewer hours and it's term time only (plus I am an actual teacher - and I don't do bodily fluids of other people's children). I used to be head of vocational education so this is far more suited to my experience. I always said I wouldn't go back to teaching but needs must and all that.
I have no knowlege of the pay scales Sherr but it does sound to be more suitable.
Apply for both or more and see what comes up....
Good luck.
