We are thinking of fostering, I have the experience of working with children, especially special needs children.
Has anyone out there ever fostered, and if so what are their experiences of it?!
I would appreciate your comments. Many thanks in advance!

i don't think you can call it a career as such - although you get paid, it's not much more than it costs to keep a child. If you are fostering children that go to school, you will also have days free. then they'll be doing homework, eating tea and going to bed.
My friend does it (she already had 2 children at home) She's had a mix of children, from a raucous 15 year old, to a nine month old baby, who she had to transition to the new adoptive parents. They all came and went rather last minute, so her family had to adjust quickly to new situations. She also has to keep her portfolio up to date and that's a lot of hard work! however, as you've probably guessed, the rewards are great
I would strongly recommend discussing this with any other children you have at home.

I was a foster child on many occasions when young and had numerous problems with the carer's children not wanting me there and bullying me because of it.
