I applied for a job as a trainee estate agent. They asked me why i would rather do sales than lettings and I must admit that question stumped me. I dont want to say i just do, anyone got any ideas?

You just have to be super prepared for those sorts of questions.  All they really wanted to know what that you realised there was a difference between the two types of jobs.  You need to tell them that your skills and personality are better suited to sales rather than lettings because.....

You (and the firm) earn more commission in sales as it is peoples long-term investment, therefore it is more challenging to get the sale than a temporary lease. 

The Estate Agent won't give two nats nadgers about peoples dream homes.

Yup, I agree with Octavius, what you are doing at this stage is selling YOURSELF to the estate agent, NOT the homes to the clients.  Profit, reputation etc are their key aims.  Good luck!
