New Job and no p45

Hi guys I have been in my new job for 4 months and i have been trying to get my p45 but cant. My employer has moved to oz. I have tried his accountant but he said I cant have it untill he has spoken to my ex boss who no one can get in touch with. I have been on emergency tax and N.I for 4 mounths now. how do I resolve this as this is getting me down. A friend of mine said I can get a form from my new employer sign it and put the date I started to work for him and I will get a rebate from the Inland Rev any Ideas Cheers.

My P45 went missing in the post once. My new employer made me fill in a P46 form using the details from my last payslip.

Yep a P45 is effectively the contents of your last payslip (in most cases). There is a lot of mystique surrounding the P45, you don't actually need one, a new employer can get the same info from you last payslip as ursula says. Any over paid tax should sort itself out when the figures are adjusted properly.
Any employer should carry P46 forms, which you can use in place of a P45. If not, speak to the Inland Revenue, and I'm sure they'll send you one. There's absolutely no reason that you should be paying base rate tax at all.
