year 9 options

i am currently going in the process of choosing my options. in general, what do you people reccomend as good choises, enjoyable jobs and well paid jobs.i need guidance, any ideas? ( im doing my math GCSE starting in year 9, so i hope im capable :-) )

You need to give us some ideas of what you like doing, what you are good at etc and then we may be able to make suggestions.

In fact, just telling us whether you are male or female would be a start... There is no point suggesting becoming a ballet dancer if you are a six foot rugby playing male!!

You need to go with your strengths, and also what you enjoy. If you enjoy art for example then choose art as an option. If on the other hand you enjoy science, and are good at it then choose double or triple science. Also if you are good at languages then choose at least one, it will always come in useful.

The simple fact is that there are only braod choices you can make at your age, and that these should be based on what you enjoy and achieve in already, your confidence in the teachers who deliver the subjects in your school, and any ideas you have about how you would want to earn a living as an adult.
Your life will change rapidly and sociiety is changing rapidly too. What you can demonstrate is a willingness and ability to learn. When you are through Year 11 you will have started to get more ideas about where you are going in life, and you will be able to choose more courses that will take you there. But ultimately the jobs you end up doing in 10 - 15 years may not even have been invented yet.
So enjoy your learning and crack on with life.

thank you for your advise, im just going to clarify that im male and i like to sort of think i can do most things( exept sport, art, music and drama. lol)i was just asking for advice , secondly, how many options can you take and what can you take? if you have the patience to answer such stupid questions lol...

Well each school has a different policy. My eldest son has just finished his GCSEs and my younger one has just started in year 10. After talking to friends whose children have been the same age as mine I do find that it does vary. It even changed at the same school in the two years between my two sons choosing their options. You will be given a booklet outlining what subjects, and how many you can take. At my sons school there was also an evening in school where the details were outlined and then you could have a chat to the teachers, or even people from local colleges. At others schools this is not always this case, I know of at least one school where there was an appointment made for each pupil and their parents to discuss their particular option options (does that make sense!) with their form tutor.

i think you should really ask yourself ure family and friend cos those are the people who know you best and what you are best at

To expand on my further answer, different schools offer different subjects, eg some schools offer Spanish, others French or German, or even two languages. My elder son had to do a vocational course, whether he wanted to or not, my younger son did not, though the option was there if he wanted to do one. The vocational courses were offered through a local college, which the pupils attend one half day a week, and include things such as beauty and hairdressing, motor mechanics, construction, business. The children of a friend of mine attend a RC High School and they have to do RE as one of their options. As you can see it varies a lot, you'll just have to wait and see what your school offers.
Even then though you may find that you are not able to study all your chosen subjects. This happened to myself at O level, the schools cannot always offer all the children all their ideal subjects so sometimes a compromise has to be made and you have to drop one subject in favour of another one.
