Has anyone ever received any response from a letter of complaint?


I sent a letter of complain a few weeks ago but still have had no response. Had a new washing machine delivered and it was damaged, so could not use it. Had to take more time off work for the delivery of new washing machine, which I had to wait 1 week for.

Am thinking of not bothering of chasing my complaint - anyone think i am wasting my time?

Did you send it 'recorded delivery' (or 'sign it', or whatever they call it now)

Letter was sent via recorded delivery.

I was complaining that they provided me with a broken washing machine at delivery. I had to wait 1 week for a replacement. iN that week I had to use a launderette which was £6.40 a load and also I had to take the afternoon off work for the replacement to be delivered. I have asked for a £50 refund as compensation.
Unfortunately in this day and age, an old-fashioned letter rarely, if ever, reaches its intended target.

More effective, in my experience, is an e-mail, making sure you cc in your local Trading Standards authority. This normally provokes a faster response.

I once sent a letter of complaint by fax to the chairman of Currys, never even got an acknowledgement. Over the years I reckon it must have lost Currys thousands as I have never bought anything from them again.

That is really shocking that not evening the Chairman will respond!!. Maybe I have no chance.
I had bought an oven and I was promised intallation on the day of delivery, in the event it was installed 8 days after.

PC World, Currys and those Dixons stores are the same chain. I only buy things like paper from them now. This was 3 computers, two tellys, a fridge freezer, 2 tumble dryers, a hob and two printers ago.

Just tell everyone you know how bad it was and next time try Comet
This is why the Dixons Stores Group is always at the bottom of customer satisfaction surveys - they are hopeless! Always highly recommended are Richer Sounds (for audio-visual gear) and John Lewis for just about everything.
I doubt you would ever have anyone acknowledge receipt of a letter of complaint as it's too easy to 'not get involved'. I used to work in the Planning Department of my local county council. When we got letters of complaint from the public we passed the good ones around for a laugh - then threw them all in the bin. We never replied to any and if anyone had ever asked (not that they did) we would have said we hadn't seen anything.

It's pointless complaining to most organisations in the UK. You'll only get yourself worked up muchlove. Just go somewhere else.
I've never had any problems with either Currys, Dixons or PC World, and I have bought items from each of them more than once. I am always surprised when people say how rubbish they are.

I hope you manage to get a satisfactory result from your complaint.
I will never use Curry's again after the last time. O/H went to buy a new laptop which had some special offer on it. When the guy was pricing up I said the price didn't sound right (too much) but before I had a proper chance to work it out he actually told me that's what his computer says and it's far more likely my brain was wrong. I felt so stupid I kept my mouth shut. In the car on the way home I went through the figures again and checked the receipt, which was almost deliberately confusing. Turns out he had overcharged us by 20 quid. I know its not much but it's the principle. We turned around and went back in. I had to explain to three different people before one of them finally understood I was right and then argued over who was going to do the refund, which because they couldn't work out the exact amount ended up being slightly less. I had given up the will to explain by this stage. They were so rude to me when I went back in that as soon as I got home I e-mailed customer service who were about as useful as a chocolate teapot. I'm sad to say I did just give up in the end and informed them I would never use them again. Not that they cared, they already had our money.
