Really ?

For the avoidance of doubt -

1. The main proposer is not in a risky group or a young driver

2.The main proposer has nad insurance in own name for years - no claims , no convictions ?

What have these insurers got against me then .
I've added my husband to mine and it has decreased slightly!
We added a couple of people on our work policy and got refunds. I'm also waiting for my Dad to confirm he has no claims on his insurance so I can add him to mine.

My premium went up when I added my bf, who is 25 but he had not long passed his test so that was understandable.
at 32 with a full NCD and 14 years experience of driving, I added Mr CRX who had 3 points (minor speeding) was 36 and had a few claims on his own insurance.

My premium reduced, if only by a small amount
discounts are given by insurers for insured and spouse, and insured plus named drivers - in addition, if the person you are adding is classed as a lower risk driver than yourself, whether that be due to age, convictions, occupation, etc etc, then your insurance will reduce more often than not
