after my car was hit last march my ins is up for renewal, the police have never followed up the investigation and even admitted they were at fault not doing so, the act was caught on cctv but was lost as the police made 3 calls saying they were coming to view it but never did, we know who it was and the police forwarded his details. he was to attend 2 interviews but never showed up ! after a few months i learnt the police and c.p.s threw it out as they couldnt be bothered, my ins co have put me down as at fault as they cannot recover costs (£1455) now im expected to pay double a month, been on go compare etc and its all the same, are there any companies out there who insure drivers who have had this prob but wont effect premiums ? im on min wage and its not easy these days

no, i don't think so. If they can't recover the money, they have no (business) choice but to treat it as if it was your fault
i'd write to the police at the professional standards department in relation to making a complaint as to why it was not followed up.
if you go into the local station and ask for the details of the p.s.d they will give it you.
